Super Fly or Superhero?!
Good Morning!
I was going through some pictures online from New York Fashion Week and noticed that a lot of capes were being shown for spring and fall 2011. I often struggle with this trend... I have one grey, plaid cape which I absolutely adore but the reason I struggle is because I don't always find it practical. It's definitely easy to 'throw on' as you're walking out the door, but is it warm? I'm either too cold or too hot... I never know what type of weather is appropriate.
I'm still, however, attracted to this trend and fell in love with the following:
What do you think of capes? Are they super fly or merely for superheros?

I really like this trend, but not sure if I would look good in it.
ReplyDeleteSuper fly; but on the right body type (i.e. super tall!). :P
ReplyDeleteI love these capelets! They are very cute!
ReplyDeleteI like the look but it's not for me - I look like a real weirdo in a cape.

ah loving the pink one x
ReplyDeleteAs the other commentors correctly note, it takes a special woman (tall, thin, elegant) to pull off a cape. On me, people would think I'm Dracula and run away in horror...
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you, they are a tricky garment. To be honest, when I first started seeing them, I didn't really like them...but since then they've grown on me and I love the look now!
ReplyDeleteI honestly think it's a mix between the two. But I would totally still wear it!

I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! p.s Yeah, capes are so in at the moment... Was in paris recently and saw them everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI love the capes but I don't think they'd suit my body type :) Like the pink one best!

I love the way they look, especially with longer gloves. Although, I'm more comfortable wearing something with actual sleeves lol.
ReplyDeleteI freaking LOVE capes!! These are so fab. I have a purple vintage cape from the 1800s I got at an antique store a couple years ago. Every time I wear it, I feel like I should be in A Christmas Carol or something. LOL! :P
ReplyDeleteI love capes. I think they are so dramatic and theatrical!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree... I have a really super cute navy blue one from club monaco but i am always too hot or too cold or can't quite get it to jive with my outfit... but it's really cute... and i think classic too.
ReplyDeletexo, allie
they're cute I tooootally agree, they're so mysterious in black, but i have such an issue with them because I only really wear cross-body bags and they get in the way!
ReplyDeleteI love capes and I'm so happy to see them for the next seasons, but like you I think they are super fly. MAybe it's Ok if you drive to the mall o whatever the place you're going, but If you take public transit like me or want just to walk around is a huge mistake.
ReplyDeleteLoving the capes- Zara had some amazing ones this past fall. I love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteDear Twentysomething,
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to visit my blog and to leave a lovely comment too. Im undecided if cape are super-fly or super-heros. Regardless, they are super-cool. I have a grey cape coat myself and I wear almost everyday.

I think it's a great trend, but don't think I'd suit it well. Also, it's something that would quickly go out of fashion and I tend to like more timeless pieces :). Haven't seen very nice capes though, but the ones you've posted here are lovely!
ReplyDeletesome people can pull it off, I am not one of them. they are a great trend but not one I will be able to do.
ReplyDeleteWrite it in lipstick
Capes are cute but they should be practical too! Hmm maybe if you found one with removable lining?
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend and glad to be back checking blogs!
I think they're absolutely gorgeous but they juust don't suit me!
ReplyDeleteThese ones are so cute though
i would love to own and wear a cape, for us Canadian it is definitely a spring fall outerwear, not for winter.
