An Art & Fashion Collaboration.

Best Blogger Tips

Combining fashion and art... Does it work?

Takashi Murakami is a contemporary Japanese artist who blurs the barrier between high and low art. His artwork has a cartoon feel and ranges from thirty-foot sculptures to phone caddies.

He is also greatly known for his collaboration with Louis Vuitton where he designed the multicolor monogram print. This print became hugely popular and now graces a variety of handbags, scarfs and keychains.

What do you think of this collaboration? Do you know any other popular art and fashion collaborations?

  5. I think fashion is art and vice versa. Art is the entire drawer encompassing everything from literature to photography to haute couture.

I'm not a huge fan of the LV print however other textile designers like Zandra Rhodes have greatly influenced my style.

  7. If you like this, you should check out the past pairing of Prada and comic artist James Jean! Kinda similar, colorful and dreamy aesthetic.

  9. I love when fashion designers combine genuine artwork to their products. I mean, it is already art to begin with because they had to come up with a design for their new dresses, shirts, bags, etc., but when they take something lets say from a canvas and incorporate it into something else...it is like WOW! I always wanted to design my own silk scarves since a lot of artists just paste their artwork onto the scarf but they usually just repeat their design. Here is a really neat website with silk scarves and they show you the artwork before it is put on the scarf and...it is just AWESOME!
