Summer Sales... Uh Oh!

Hello all!

Did everyone have a nice long weekend? It was so great having a break from work!

I made the mistake of meeting some out-of-town friends for brunch in Soho on Sunday, and stumbling into Bloomingdale's and Zara... and leaving with 4 pairs of shoes! YIKES! They were, however, on sale... 40-50%!! I'm pleased.

What do you think of them?

What's everyone up to this week?

Spring Eyewear.

Spring is in the air (kinda!) and with that comes the sun... I have always been a huge fan of sunglasses. I seem to have collected a variety of different pairs throughout the years. So, by special request from my best friend, here is a post dedicated to one of my favorite accessories: sunglasses.

The trend in sunglasses for spring are plastic, colored frames. I'm loving this because they add color to any outfit. A few of my favorites:

House of Harlow 1960 - Nicole $125

Karen Walker - Rover $180

Marc by Marc Jacobs - Oversized $98

Mosley Tribes - Hayes Aviator $210

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony - Flared Daring $365

Not into the colored, flashy frames? Stick to the classics. Some gorgeous spring sunglasses:

Oliver Peoples - Daddy B $325

Tory Burch - Logo Aviator $149

Phillip Lim - Dwayne $225

Carrera - Andy $98

Or you could always go for my all-time favorite, Ray-bans:

NEW RELEASE Ray-bans - RB147 $129

NEW RELEASE Ray-bans - RB8307  $189

Original Wayfarer - RB2140 $145

Classic Aviator - RB3044 $99

And finally, for some more affordable ways to either wear the trends or stick to the classics:

Aldo - $12

Forever21 - $5.80

Forever21 - $5.80

Charlotte Russe - $5.00

Some fun facts:

  • Sunglasses were first used in China as tinting for judges in court to conceal their eyes
  • Ray-ban invited the anti-glare aviator in 1936
  • Sunglasses became fashionable in the 1960's in an ad campaign for Foster Grant, a comb and glass firm

What are your favorites? Do you love sunglasses as much as I do?

The CLOG.

Splurge. Save.

I was never totally sure what to make of clogs, but they keep coming back on the fashion radar and since I'm a HUGE shoe junkie, I had to give them a shot. The more I see them, the more I'm getting inspired. Seeing as clogs are 'trendy,' they're not something I'd splurge on... so, look at the ones I found on Forever21.com! Perfect for some style experimentation.
Clogs were a large part of Chanel's spring 2010 collection, but I have a feeling they're going to stick around as they're even part of Tory Burch's resort wear collection this month.

So, to make them work well, follow these Twentysomething tips:
  • Find a clog with a heel. These work better with leggings and skinny jeans. They're more flattering and work well with a casual outfit.
  • For wedge clogs, I recommend pairing them with a knee-length dress, scarf and bangles. This way you can go from a day look to an evening one easily.
Here's how some celebs are making the trend work:

Who do you think is making it work best?

What are you clog fashion tips? Do you think clogs are here to stay or should go back to the 70's?
